Welcome to Vangsgaarden Gjestgiveri
At the furthest inland reaches of Sognefjorden, surrounded by lofty mountains and deep fjords, is the venerable Vangsgaarden Gjestgiveri. Here the Ohnstad-Stigen family has preserved traditions going as far back as the eighteenth century. This is where the salmon-fishing British gentry came to fish in the famous Aurland river throughout the nineteenth century. Later on, guests from near and far found their way to this idyllic fjord-side community. The old buildings at Vangsgaarden have since been converted into hotel rooms, restaurants and fisherman's cabins.
